Superfans for Charity
During the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the company ran a competition where staff competed in 6 teams (representing each of the colours of the SA flag) to see who could do the most for a charitable project. In order to encourage people to give time rather than money, the company donated R100 towards the project for each man-hour spent (outside of office hours) on the project. The company also donated R1 for every R1 raised by the teams for their project.
The competitive spirit of the company came to the fore when teams resorted to all sorts of interesting tactics to beat the competition. But a lot of serious hard, physical work went into the projects and we are very proud of our staff.
The fun part of the competition was that every team had to dress as 'superfans', complete with makarapas and vuvuzela's and do a dance routine for the judges.
Charities who benefited from this were:
A Partner in Education
Clyde Bergemann Africa strives to support the communities in which we operate and we strongly believe that education alleviates poverty.
In August 2009, we donated the first batch of library books to a high school in Cosmo City. Members of our staff volunteered to help set up the library and we maintain this effort on an ongoing basis. We work with the educators at the school in order to ensure that the books we obtain satisfy the needs of the learners and fit in with the school's curriculum.

Keeping Warm
In conjunction with the Lux Mundi Church's Astri Dei cycling tour we annually provide warm track suits, socks and takkies to less privileged children in the communities where we are most active.
